Has anybody replaced the bearings on the intermediate shaft?

Has anybody replaced the bearings on the intermediate shaft?
I get a noise from the intermediate shaft gear area when the car warms up and it pretty much just makes noise at idle. Has anybody replaced these bearings or removed their int.shaft and is knowledgable on what may cause the noise.
What is required to change the bearings?
It is not the roller bearing making the noise.
