So...do I really HAVE to drop $200 for a new fuel pump?

While doing some maintainence on the fuel system of my car tonight, I effectively destroyed my fuel pump. While trying to get at the check valve to replace it, I put an air ratchet on the big banjo bolt at the end of the fuel pump to try and break it. Unfortunately the check valve slipped first, making the banjo bolt, banjo fitting, and check valve all go spinning...right into one of those contacts that powers the thing. At first only the plastic thing and contact broke off, but then I saw hexes on the contact and started turning, making nothing better *slaps self on head with two $100 bills*.

So...Taylor Auto has the thing for $195. Seeing as it looks like a genericish Bosch part...are there any cheaper models I can look to? Anyone have a spare or used one laying around? I'll check junkyards soon.

its hard to beat taylor

the only fuel pump is the bosch your looking at or if you can find a peirburg they are a bit less then bosch and as good if not better.
anything electrical costs a fortune, and 200 is about the best your most likely going to find.

Found something nice:-D... car is a1990 80Q

Turns out all the earlyish quattro era VAG cars until '92 use the same pump, connectors are just mildly different. My buddy has a donor 5000tq that he doesn't need the good pump off of, so hopefully we'll see if it will like a transplant.

Look on Ebay for the Pierberg fuel pumps. Usually Shokan has one for about $130.

i have a used one off my 1990 audi 90 20v

i replaced mine because i thought it was bad, and it turned out to be the injectors

you can have it for cheap!

i did the same thing this this morning. tried super glue, jb weld but i finally broke down and handed over the money. by the way this is my first post. i have been watching this forum for about 2 years now under the radar but i couldn't help but post. just too freaky!
