new rubber for the cab!

I had these put on yesterday. They are the Yokohama AVS db S2. The db means they are supposed to be quieter than other tires, and they are. There is still some noise transfered through the suspension, but the noise from where rubber hits the pavement is greatly reduced. On some surfaces I really had to listen for it. I went with these to increase the whoosh factor of driving with the top down-the only noise I wanted to here is the wind wooshing by. I am satisfied with the redults. These are a hugh improvement over what I was running before. Even noise from the tire under heavy braking is reduced. The only thing I do not like is Yoko's tend to wear very rapidly. This is an all-season tire, but it looks like it would do better under dry and wet conditions. I will have to wait and see how it does in the snow.

louder than when new, or louder than comparable tires?

All Yokohamas get wicked ****ing loud as they wear. It's terrible.

Even the AVS dbs, which are supposed to be quiet. They're louder than comparable tires when the get really worn down. My friend had them on his Benz, and they were terrible. He had AVS intermediates on his Talon, and they got way louder when they wore. My AVS ES 100s got louder too as they wore down. Wicked lame.
