What's the best way to get rid of oil sludge on the body?

What's the best way to get rid of oil sludge on the body?

I bought another coupe quattro and the engine bay is covered. What are potential options with out killing the paint.

I've done it a couple of ways but I am allways looking into options.

Simple Green works as a great degreaser, and as long as your quick with it...

...shouldn't do damage to the paint!

More powerful? Try gasoline in a spray bottle....

I worked at a auto detail shop in high school and we always used regular gas in a spray bottle and standard reg rags to get tar off the lower portions of cars. Should work ok for oil sludge too, but you'll need to apply wax after you're done.
