My 80 is in need of a set of new shocks all around. Since I've got stock springs, I wanted to just get some nice basic shocks, under $100ea. What are the best shocks available in that price range and where can I find them? Blau has a set of Boge Turbo shocks for $300. Any good? Anywhere better to buy them? Also, if anybody has some sport springs that will fit a 1988 80 Quattro and wants to get rid of them, I might be interested. Will the Boge Turbos work with lower springs? Blau's site says they do. Anybody done it? I can't afford Bilsteins.

http://www.blauparts.com/suspension1.htm</a

Default I just ordered Boge TurboGas from www.autohausaz.com

They were a tad cheaper than Blau for me. You can get Blau to pricematch if you want to go through the trouble.

Default what about the springs themselvs?

seems like a good price for shocks if you do not care about lowering or track.

Just wondring how good the stock springs are/how long they last/good test?

main reason I ask is because If the springs have a good track record..I may just buy ONLY those nice cheep Boge ones. If the springs tend to age not so well (car is a 93) I think I will have to go with something like Bilstein with accomping Vogtland or B+G springs.

Either way I still gotta get me some solid strut mounts

Thanks all

Default uhhhh.... springs will generally last a long time. cracked or mushed springs would be bad

but i should think that if you never exceed the weight limitations of the vehicle that its springs should live indefinately. Depending on location, rust would prolly be main wear factor
