Checklist of things to do before starting a car that was out of commission over the winter

We started on the project of replacing the heater core towards the end of fall last year but had to postpone completing the work because of old man winter. We are finally in the last stages of putting together the dash and steering wheel back.
The car was out of commission over that period. Can you all help make a list of things to check before we turn the ignition key on. They could be related to the heater core project or just on the fact that the car was sitting in the garage for six months.

6months is nothing.. our volvo wagon sat untouched outside for a couple Years

and then I wanted to use it as an off-roader vehicle for camping.

I just hopped in, cranked her over, and she started right up just as though we'd been driving her all that time. She got me up into the mountains And back again, and she's now sitting back in her spot =S

If your car has been garaged it'll be a cakewalk. Check the oil and since you've had the heater system apart make sure coolant is topped up. Otherwise just start & go
