solid strut mounts
Thanx!
I'll reserve comment on them as obviously I have an ulterior motive. But I've yet to see personal email feedback or a posted review with less than stellar comments.
mine is a winter monster first and foremost; i want the ground clearance and i want the soft suspension as the car is needed for snow and ice driving 4 months of the year. We dont salt anywhere and we only plow the extra thick stuff. Theres a permanant snow/ice/pack layer on most of the road surfaces i drive.
I bought the solid mounts because the stock ones are complete bull****. The failure mode is downright unsafe.
The solid mounts have eliminated the camber slop you get from a failed mount and i dont see anyway for them to have the same failure mode.
My car also has no power steering, so all the steering feelings are unmasked. I notice that at times i have to work to unwind the wheel from full lock as opposed to the caster-return doing this for me. I dont know if my caster is way out or if there is some binding going on in the mounts or what.
Overall i am highly satisfied with the mounts as they haven't fallen apart. That makes them much better than the stock crap. My 90Q is a very shoestring budget vehicle but this is an easy upgrade to justify - the stock mounts will just get unsafe. Mine lasted less than 8 months.

w.r.t. making turns:
- I practice apexing on the street

- i have substantial upper body strength
- i've driven the car this way most of the time i've owned it.
i was sick of the power steering system bleeding itself dry of the green gold so i just removed 100% of the PS components and put bolts in the rack after topping it off. Now i can get around to rebuilding/repairing all parts at my leisure.
