Default are most wire gremlins at the drivers side door jam?

finally started looking why the coupe is on a battery eating rampage. i was told to check the wires at the hatch. hmmmm ... no wires. i can feel the hardlines that i assume are for the rear wiper fluid. but no wires.

secondly ... how do i remove the rubber boot from around the wires (talking about the front door jam) without tearing it up. i didn't want to start taking apart the door without looking it up first.

How would the rear wiper work without electricity? Look harder for those wires, they are there!

Default i know that! consider that one a free shot! :o)

haha ... but is it the general consensus that 2 maybe 3 wires that go to the rear wiper would drain my batter in less than 48 hours? maybe. maybe not. in any cause .. which side has the wires. driver or passenger?

Default Get a voltmeter and connect one end to the negative side of the battery...

the other to a good ground on the body. Take out all fuses that ususally stay on when key is removed. If the voltmeter shows anything on it, you definitely have a drain. Start at the alternator, starter, the ususal suspects than go to the wiring. The bellows in the door will slide out.

Default drivers side...they go up the c pillar

on the drivers side, through a little rubber acordian thing, then into the hatch. In the hatch you have 2 wires, + and ground for the 3rd tail light (hatch is fiberglass, so there are ground wires in this bundle too), a couple for the hatch lock mechanism, a couple for the wiper, and a couple for the rear windshield defroster. All of mine were split and bare. I fixed them, and since have had no problem with the battery. You have to take all of the inside trim off of the hatch to free up enough slack to splice these wires together, and they are wrapped in that sticky black electrical tape. It was a PITA, but worth investigating.

All you have to do to check is to pull back that little accordian rubber peice on the drivers side near the roof, you should see bare wires there if there are any.
