Default CQ Euro Back Bumper Project Completed...

I made a stainless steel plate/bracket to connect between the shocks. It is 7" x 34" x .125" thick. This bracket is then drilled and slotted for the Euro re-bar attachment points. Slotted, in order to adjust the height.
Last, the Euro cover is cemented top and bottom lip where the re-bar contacts, then the screws that hold it to the fender liner. I had to drill new holes in the cover to line up with the CQs' mounting clips in the fender liner.
Done deal and looks like a Porsche back end.
I haven't seen many pictures of this configuration but when I get a picture I will post it... I tried posting a picture last week but failed the first attempt.

Just curious, why bother to keep the DOT shocks? Why not use Euro OEm mounting brackets?

Default Any better protection back there means less dollars later for repair ....

in the event of a back end hit. Better crush zone to absorb
shock from hit. Sounds feasible. Like to see pix of construction.

Default I understand that but you think those shocks will collapse before plastic bumper breaks?

DOT re-bar is something else - that can take a hit.

Default Better to shatter the bumper than to have damage to the body itself. The ...

shocks enhance the odds of the body not suffering damage.
Without the shocks absorbing some of the force the bumper and the body both will suffer. The rebar just distributes the damaging force along a wider area. If I had been this guy I would have sprayed insulating foam to absorb more of the force and soften the blow to the back of the car.

Default It's true what you say, but in a rear-ender...

in Ontario we have "No Fault" insurance. The damage will be repaired or the car written-off.
Now I have to get the car appraised for the insurance company to insure it for its' true value.
