Rear lock on CQ
Well bought some goodies at a local wrecking yard, which included a rear lock from a 90Q sedan. (Mine didn't have functional power locking) I compared quickly with my CQ and it looked the same. After switching the barrel around and other hardware, come to find that one of the tabs is 10 degrees different between the two. Can't bolt this sucker in...! Nice interchangeability...NOT! Anyone has a coupe lock in good shape?

Rear lock on CQ also has an inherrent weakness in it's design & mfg.....
The hatch on the CQ is heavier than the sedans even thou it is FG and the CQ does not dissipate air pressure inside of it as easily as the sedans, you have too shut more than once to make sure the lock engages or open a door slightly to relieve the sadi pressure. Most owners don't bother with the slight door openeing sooooooooo they slam the hatch. This causes the said weakness. The cast metal arm on the lock breaks or cracks leading to improper operation of the lock. You'll know it isn't working properly when you try to open it from the different positons on the lock

Part two of the saga. The power lock latch was broken. The lock casing was different to the 90Q (previous post) but the mechanism was identical. So I drilled out the pivot pin, and replaced the broken part in my lock. reduced the spring size (slightly) so the ball pressure is reduced. Also switched the barrel (again) and rebuilt the whole thing. All is well now... Finally. Now the heat flow actuator...
