Sealing cord for...

the waterguard under the windscreen?? Just replaced the pollen filter on my cabriolet, and can't get the water/leafguard to sit properly and make the seal...there was something like black sealant in a bead on the underside which I assumed was a previous 'bodge fix' to hold it down, but a close look on my ETKA lists a sealing cord AKD 497 010 04...which my dealer has never used....

It's stll listed as avaialble, but as they have none, it's specal order and not cheap...despite it being listed for all the 80/90/100 and B5 A4's as a required part!!

So - have you all got this in place or just poor fitting and water leaks??

You could buy some butyl sealing cord used for setting auto glass...

...a roll of it here is about $10-15 at an auto parts supply store. It comes in a 3/8" bead...it's the same stuff used to seal tail lights and such too...

I'd asked about this when I had the screen on my A4 changed last week - they had not seen anything like that before...maybe we don't use such things over this side of the pond??

Hi. purchased 1 roll to reseal my coupe drivers rear light from Ebay 27/10/06 cost 8.5 GBP + postage(1 x roll is approx 2.5M) Item i think. is still availble. VAG Part No AKD49701004R10 is for a box of 4 rolls i belive, hope this may help. cheers

3M Strip Chaulk $20 for 20 feet IIRC

Widely available over here...must be 3M retailers in the UK? If you're really stuck, you can get it from Eastwood or I can pick it up here and post it.
