Default 1996 A4 Brakes

I recently purchased a 1996 A4 2.8 quattro and
I need to replace the front brakes and rotors.
Any suggestions? Also looking for a place on Long Island that does good alignments. Thanks

Default I have the same car....

www.ecstuning.com

if you want street use brakes, get the ATE powerdisc rotors and the Mintex red box pads. The combo will run you $170, if you want to learn how to install them stop by one weekend when we are doing a suspension and I'll show you how to change the brakes. Its quite easy and I've got the tool if you need it. As for alignment $150-180 at the stealership. The B5 has a very complex suspension.

BTW I'm in West Orange NJ.

If you want more track oriented pads go with the EBC green.

Default Do the pads yourself, and don't do rotors unless they're destroyed

imo, Rotors almost never need replacing. Mechanics just tell you to replace them because they want $. Mintex red box (or green box, whichever is cheaper) are totally fine and worth it for $50 (for fronts).
btw, when audi told me to replace the pads and rotors, i bought them both, and 45k miles later, i went to change them. Rotors were fine (i returned them) and pad still had some good meat left on em.

Default here is what i did in mine for brake:

Fronts:
- Mintex red box pads
- ATE slotted rotors
- High performance Caliper (cannot recall brand)

Rear:
- Stock caliper
- PBS (organic) pads
- Stock rotor

You want to use metalic pads for fronts as the front are where the braking power will be. Rear, you want pads that are light to the rotor, that is why i use organics.

good luck
