My friend is an internt at an auto shop in my area, he quoted me 300 for front/right wheel bearing

Is he no longer my friend? Because this sounds way too high. I was hoping it was going to be around 150.

may be a real PITA

I bought a hub shark and all the necessary tools and actually managed to get the hub off, before I gave up. I hit a curb back in January, which I assume wedged the bearing into the bearing housing - I could absolutely not get it out. So now I'm taking it in to get it done. The quote I received is $338 - including $75 alignment. I assume at this point the only way to do it is to disconnect the housing and press the bearing out.

Nevertheless, if you just need a bearing replaced because it went bad on its own, perhaps it should be easier.
