suspension questions
I have a 2000 A4 1.8T avant quattro with sport package. Can I put non sport springs from a 2000 quatrro sedan on the car? Can the sport dampers be used with non sport springs? Any insight would be helpful. I am looking to get more ground clearance but keep the sport dampers.

Suspension is a big job.... and there is a different set of springs for the Avant
the Avant is heavier so it has different springs, it may also have different shocks. Non-sport springs are for non-sport shocks, the perch is different and so is the travel lentgh I think.
If you are going to do suspension at all just switch to bilstein sport or bilstein HD shocks, The OE parts arent any less expensive and they dont come with the same warranty or work as well as the bilsteins.
Stock shocks are made by BOGE/sachs. I've seen all of em, I've also now done 3 suspension instllations and this is not something you wanna do twice. If you have a shop do it expect to pay $200-300 for installation, if you pay less be thankfull. If you do it yourself, its 6-8 hours of work.
I went with Bilstein sport shocks and Vogtland sport springs, the ride is a lot more firm, but the handling is vastly improved especially with my summer wheels/tires on the car.
The sport package also includes thicker sway bars which reduce body roll a bit.

Re: NO!! First, it's a sedan. Won't work on an Avant. Secondly,.......
Thanks. The dealer actually thought the dampers would work, but said the car would sit lower on sedan springs due to heavier weight of the wagon.

Does anyone know of non OE springs that would offer a stock ride height. The sport suspension is too low for the winters were I live.
