Clutch pedal dead, Hydraulic or clutch worn out?
Hey Guys,
About a week ago on its way to be serviced my A4's gear shifter suddenly wouldn't go into gear and the clutch pedal was 'limp' or dead. I thought that the problem was a hydraulic link from the pedal to the clutch, but an audi service tech told me that the entire clutch assembly needs to be replaced. Does this sound right? Anyone had a similar experience? I'm really not happy about all this since the car is out of warranty and its lease is up in three weeks.... what a bad draw... Any feedback would be much appreciated. ESPECIALLY since the Audi service tech says its 2100 (all inclusive) to replace.

Should just be the master or slave. I dont think the line would need to be replaced
If it was just the clutch the pedal would not have got soft, it would just to the point that the clutch would slip. If the clutch melted to the flywheel the pedal would feel fine but you just would not be able to get the shifter into gears with the car running.

the clutch is another one of many weak points in this car but
it sounds like your getting taken. I'm betting just the master or the slave cylinder went bad but he's going to charge you for the whole thing so he doesn't have to actually diagnose what it is. Did you have any signs of this or did it just drop to the floor all of a sudden. Was there any noise in the transmission area when it happened? Again I say scam, take it somewhere else.
