Please help... headlights don't work...

Please help... headlights don't work...

on sunday both of my headlights stoped working. After doing a search on AW I figured it was the combination switch a pretty common problem. A buddy of mine has a shop and he happened to have whole steering column from a 98 (BTW mine is a early 99) A4 so I tried that switch on my car and the headlights still no go.

Can it be something else? or with my luck that switch is also bad?

do just specific beams not work.. or all of it? happened to me

i replaced the two h7 low beams and they work fine now

well, I am hoping you checked the fuse, and relay?

otherwise, it could be bulbs... but that is extremely unlikely that both would burn out...

The high beams only work when I hold them and the foglights buttons don't light up

I did check the fuses first thing

I had both mine burn out one, then about 1 second went by, then the other

mein went a while ago...

$115 for the switch from audi...requires removal of wheel/airbag. Its a ****ty design to begin with and the use of ricer bulbs greatly accelerates this problem(if youve been using them..) Problem stems from the switch heating up and melting. Dunno about the jetta switch, but I have the same year as you and had this problem too. If your high beams work when using the switch in a fashion as to "flash" another driver, but not when turned to the high beam - on position then its the switch. Hope this helps a bit.
