grinding sound when stopping

grinding sound when stopping
My '98 1.8TQMS has been making ginding sounds when I come to a stop, it does not make the sound every time. The sound is not very loud but I do not think it is the breaks. I have about a .4 inch of break pad on all 8 pads. I do not hear the sound when decelerating from high speed to moderate speed, only right before I come to a stop. Any ideas?

all rotors are shiny and smooth inside and out
The sound is pretty quite. The stero has to be off to hear it and then it only happens right before the car come to a stop. It does not make the sound durring the first part of the deceleration.
