Steering shake
my 87 4000s has a minor oscillation that can sometimes be felt through the steering wheel from about 55-65mph. this doesn't happen all the time and i don't think it's a wheel balance problem in that it disappears above 65 and has no effect before 55 and doesn't always happen. it seems to be more prevailent while accelerating through that range than slowing through it. i realize all vehicles have some oscillation frequencies and it's not the newest but it has low milage and everything else works perfectly. Any info or thoughts are, as always, appreciated. t

Could be any number of things really. Loose bearings, bent rim, warped tire, out of balance, warped rotor...etc etc. I had a badly bent rim on my GTI when I first bought it. The shake would start around 55 and gradually smooth out over 65-70. Take your car to a place that has one of those 'RoadForce' wheel balancers that apply force to the TIRE to check for a bent rim or bad tire.
