Default The Audi New Owners Guide Top 10

10. Go easy on you door handles. EASY!
9. Something wrong? It's a loose connection. Really.
8. never underestimate the amount of sensors your car has. See something strange? It's a sensor.
7. Can you make your I-5 engine faster? Not really, so asking is pretty useless.
6. A performance exhaust will not help, nor will a K&N filter.
5. Do not! Put a window banner on your car. Seriously... that's lame.
4. Again, you can't make an I-5 engine faster with any amount of practicallity.
3. Seriously, you can't!!! It'll cost more than the car.
2. No... I-5s are slow, we all love 'em, but your 5k, CGT, or 4k will never be really fast. No matter how many decals you put on it.
1. Finally, Love your audi, and it'll love you back... Don't take it to the dealer, and avoid thinking about your electrical system.

Thank you.

2. Can I make it quicker than my son's chipped, lowered, 240HP 1.8T Jetta?

Default About the faster thing, what about a 10V turbo motor out of a 5000?...

Reason I ask is, I just bought an 87 4000Q. I have a friend with a shop (he can probably locate an engine too) I just wonder if it's possible.

It's very possible. I don't know the details, but it requires some fabrication of the engine bay and relocation of the battery. European Car mag had an article a couple years back about such a transplant, with 235 hp from a chip and stiffer wastegate spring. I wish...

Default If you're gonna go turbo, find a '91 200T or an Ur-S car. 20 valves are better than 10!

From what I understand, the 20v turbo is a simpler transplant than the 10v, too. It's still a hell of a lot of work, but it's supposedly a little easier, and the yield is higher.

Default One disagreement

A different exhaust will help the car. A $500 Scorpion exhaust will not make it faster than a $250 one made at the local exhaust shop.

Default More info about that car...

...which I now own. The conversion was done by a place in California called 2bennett audimotive. They still offer turbo ocnversions, project to turn-key. I know of several (6!) turbo conversions in my local area. These are fun cars, but can be maintenance intensive. For reliable fun, keep your I-5 relatively stock. For maximum fun, boost is addictive.

I have had to spend lots of time and $$$ maintaining and upgrading this car. However, I never intended it to be either a daily driver, or anything other than a "toy" car. There is usually a page of things that either need repair or upgrading on it, but I drive it and enjoy it thoroughly.

As to the 20v conversion, the one I know of was done by a knowledgeable Audi mechanic. He does not recommend it to either the novice or the faint of heart. The 10V install is far easier, and with over 300hp capability, *much* cheaper and more available parts, and easier to maintain, is a more rational choice...

Good luck!<ul><li><a href="http://www.2bennett.com">2bennett audimotive</a></li></ul>
