Default Anyone install a VR6 in a 4000CSQ??

After reading 10 reasons I realize if I want some more power inmy car I'm wondering about the feasability of this swap? 172 stock hp sounds good and yes i like the exhaust note of the VR6 too. I wonder if it's any heavier than the 2.2 5 cyl. I know there are mounting issues and don't know about the belhousing but I thought I'd ask.

imo, an engine that was meant to be mounted longitudinally would be a better choice than the VR6 (the VR6 was designed to fit transversely).

I might reccomend a 2.0L FSI swap, it has around 150hp, it's compact, and it's lightweight.

Default The VR6 is heavy. Very heavy. I mean, HEAVY!

It weighs around 300lb. more than the 1.8 4-cyl, I'm not sure how much the 2.2 weighs, but I'm sure the VR6 is more. The clutches are different sizes, I think, so the bellhousing will be an issue. The VR6 is also a lot shorter than the 2.2, and has completely different mounting points. All this, as well as the exhaust and ECU/wiring harness will require extensive fabrication, along with fuel delivery(you'll be swapping out CIS and swapping in motronic, the systems aren't compatible since Motronic runs at lower pressure). Also, provided you get all this done, you'll need to do something about the front end of the car sagging from the boat anchor you just installed(did I mention the VR6 is heavy?), so you'll need new springs at least. Expect it to throw the handling off quite a bit. All in all, I'd say a turbo conversion is the way to go, it's much easier than bringing in a motor from a different brand(yeah, I know, they're sister companies, but the VR6 is unique to VW), and will yield much more power much more easily, and, believe it or not, cheaper. For example, a cam set for a VR6 is upwards of $800. Youch!
