Subframe bushings?
I own an 86 coupe gt that needs a little work. While preparing to put new front struts in, I found a the front left spring was broken and the A-arm bushings that hook the suspension to the frame are completly shot. The cars only got 101,000 on it. any one else have to deal with this? Anyone know were to get better replacement bushings?
I think Blau sells urethane bushings. I've also heard of Delrin bushings but don't know anything about them. I just replaced mine with the stock stuff; I figure it they last 100k+ miles, they can't be too bad!
I think I've heard of one broken spring before, but it's actually pretty odd. If you replace it, best to do it in pairs. You can just buy used ones that way and save quite a bit of $.
the subframe connects to the body in 4 places.
if your control arm bushings are shot then
you are probably in need of balljoints and tie rods too.
i just got done upgrading my 4kq to 90q parts.
(bigger ball joints and ABS
) ABS is not wired up just yet...but this is an ongoing project...
you get bigger wheel bearings and a slightly wider track too.
enough ramblings..
order new tierods and balljoints and while your at it might as well get strut mounts (upper)
the difference in the car will be night and day.
go to www.bimmerparts.com tie rods are like $15 for the end and i paid around $100 for both front complete rods.
HTH!
