'86 4KQ Motor swappie.....
?'s I have:
Can I use the fly-wheel off my orig. 4000Q motor?
Do I need to change the ECU? (since the '87 has a knock sensor and 10:1 compression)
Does anything have to be done with the exhaust?
If someone could help with a complete parts list, it would be most helpful.
1) Yup, use your flywheel. You'll have to remove the bushing in the automatic crank's back end, which is tons of fun.
2) Nope, stock ECU works fine if you use the same injection. Knock sensor not usable without the newer ignition/distributor/brain box. Proper timing and 93 octane works fine for me.
3) Nope, uses same manifold already in your 4kq.
Between the two engines you should have everything you need. I thought I addressed this not too long ago but can't find the post...email me if you want and I can tell you the specifics. mxbreed@paonline.com
