Odometer Questions

I recently purchased a used cluster from force 5 and they actually send me another one just in case. Well, I installed both and I still have no odometer. I do have the speedo though. Is the odometer directly related to the speedo cable? Is there something I am doing wrong?????

3 clusters, no odo!!!!

Help!!!

If my knowledge is right(which is scary), i believe the speedo cable is connected to the odometer, because you basically need it in order to show how far you go and how fast it takes you to get there. Beyond that im clueless. HTH

Do you mean it just doesn't work or is it missing (which I don't think is possible)?

If it's not working, the metal shaft has pulled out from the worm gear driving the odometer. Common VDO crap. Take the cluster apart and push the gear shaft back in. We're still working on a permanent fix though...

but the speedo works

the cable is connected but no odo

The cable drives a worm gear that drives another worm gear that drives the plastic gear that...

drives the main shaft (where the numbers are) that drives a metal gear on the other end that drives the trip odo. The speedo, which is really a magnetic thingy like a voltmeter I believe, can work separately. Note that the cruise signal is driven via Hall effect off the speedometer assembly (the two wire plug.)
