Default Audi 90 headlamps

I have swapped my H4/H1 headlamps for the same setup that's on your US 4000's (single H4 and indicator) but I would like to get rid of the orange indicators in the bumper (fender?) What lights do the US 4000's have in the bumper? as the pics. I have seen , they are all clear

http://forums.delphi.com/audi80and90</a

Well, we have that awful DOT required bumper in the front. This means that where our clear "blank" is located, there is a huge hunk of metal bumper behind it. The "blank" hides the torx bolts that hold the bumper on. Our indicators are located in the inner position. I believe this is opposite of the european setup, where you're amber indicator is on the outside and foglamp on the inside. I think the differences in bumpers is a big obstacle in converting either way.

These blanks are getting tougher to find, since the latest model year that uses them is '87 here in the USA. Dealer's don't have them. Don't usually survive in salvage yards. I last got mine from Rod at:

www.thepartsconnection.com

But that was some time ago.

Default You'll have to find them in the US. Try Chris Semple at force5 automotive.

Why do you want to get rid of the H1/H4 setup??? I payed a lot of money to get that setup on my US model. The euros are much better and the extra driving lamp is great.

The H1/H4 reflectors are very bad for tarnishing, and they are expensive, and also I wanted my Audi to look like the American model! The H4 lamps I have fitted are just as bright on dip beam as the larger lamps(UK max is 55 watts on dip) I am an MOT tester, and the beam pattern regulations in the UK are quite strict,so many Audi's fail the MOT on headlamp aim as they must have the correct pattern.

http://forums.delphi.com/audi80and90</a

Default We're all trying to make ours look like euro models, and you want a US look-alike. Ok.

I love my euro lights and haven't noticed any tarnishing yet. I even wired up my city lights, too. You might try this for clear indicator lenses. A lot of guys restoring cars are now replicating things like indicator lenses by using molds and high-pressure to make plastic replicas. I suppose you could make a mold of your amber indicator and make a clear one. You just need to find a crazy car restorer who does this sort of thing. Good luck.

I have my indicators beside the headlamps as turn signals, and have the orange indicators in the bumper wired to the sidelamps,as running lamps

http://forums.delphi.com/audi80and90</a

Default .......

Since my euros I had to move the parking lights down to the turn signals. Luckily, I coud just add the second terminal for the two-pole bulbs. I wish I had the side indicators like the euro cars have. I guess I could buy some and install them, but I hat to drill new holes in my sheetmetal!
