Default More antenna woes

Alright, I posted earlier that my antenna doesnt go up or down. I had found an aftermarket one in another 4000 a week or so ago, so i got it thinking it would fit. I didnt think about 2 things. 1)My antenna is stuck in the up position, pretty impossible to get out without cutting it, and 2) the 2 pin connector is different, which i had no clue about. The one in the junker 4000 was non-oem, i could see that, i just figured since the wiring and everything was OK, that it would work, i thought wrong. I could use a bit of help here, where can I go for a replacement that actually will work with the car? I have the original Bosch assembly now, and of course the dealer wants an arm and a leg for an imitation one(they told me the Bosch is out of circulation). ANY sort of help is appreciated!
TIA

Mike

Default 1) you can just push it down.

I eventually gave up and left the damn thing in the up position. FYI, if you replace it, it is an amplified antenna. If you don't get an amplified replacement, you will NOT be happy with it. I've tried the Harada available at Blau, it eventually caught the trunklid and bent all to death. The stocker with the motor wires snipped, left in the up position, worked way better anyway.

I tried to push the darn thing down but gave up fearing that I would bend it in half. And amplified? Please describe this. I think the replacement I have is a Harada, Ill have to check again though...

Default Amplification

There are several leads to your antenna. One is signal, one is power to the motor for up and down. One is for the amplifier, which actually amplifies the signal right there in the antenna, getting you better reception.
For pushing it down, you need ot make sure that the motor is disconnected. Also, be very careful to push only directly in line with the antenna so it doesn't bend. I clipped the wire inside the antenna housing that goes to the motor, permanently disabling it, but leaving the amplifier intact.

HTH!
