Check out ebay all..

There is an interesting 1983 4000 Turbo Diesel(as the owner puts it). Not really sure if the Turbo part is right, but the newer style headlamps with the old style back end caught me off gaurd! Just thought Id let ya all know.

Back in 1982 I worked at a west coast Porsche/Audi dealer that was a test site for P/A and we got the 400 TD. As I recall the 82 gas 4000 had 78 hp and the test 4000TD had 72 Hp. We were told to drive the hell out of the car but keep perfect records. I took the car ( India red with the houndstooth interior) from San Jose to Ill. and back. I stopped at the P/A deler in Salt lake city and Denver to let the techs look at thecar along the way. It came out of Denver over that pass very strong. The car got 50+ mpg and everyone at the dealership wanted to buy it, but it had to go home to Germany to be dissected.
