Default yep

I hear the german spec 4000 has 130 or something and not 115, and the only difference is no cat. Don't know if its true, but i know the cat is really restrictive.

The only time Ive driven my car without a cat is when it got disconnected form the downpipe from the exhaust manifold. Can you say LOUD? I didnt go above 30 fearing my eardrums would explode.

Default I wish

I think mine is original. We have emmisions here, so taking off the cat is out of the question. My test is coming up next year (every 2 years) and it barely passed this last time...

Default It was loud because it was dumping bare exhaust out of the downpipe.

With the cat disonnected, the entire exhaust was just a piece of pipe hanging off the car, the only parts being used were the manifold and downpipe, so it was like a massive leak. With all the pipes connected and sealed, it would be a lot quieter.

Default True...almost

Actually the european 4000q (90 quattro here) and the NA coupe quattro had a 2.2l engine that put out 136 HP...I know it for sure for I have such a coupe quattro.
The main differences are:
-No cat (Major)
-10:1 Compression Ratio instead of 8.5:1
-18-20 degrees timing advance

The car is pretty fast, 8.9 secs from 0 to 60, measured 2 weeks ago and 202 kms/h (126 mph) top speed and has excellent fuel mileage figures...two weeks ago we drove 2000kms (1200 miles) through Germany in 14 hours driving time (with fuel stops and all, that makes about 90 mph average speed) and we did like 435 miles on a tankful (the same as a 4kq) with my car and my friend newly-acquired coupe quattro. Same fuel consumption and same performance...
Excellent car...I'd recommend an upgrade to the NG/NF engine to all american Audi fans.

Regards,

Default Speaking of which

The lowest part of my car seems to be the exhaust manifold pipes. A couple of them are crushed pretty good, but not leaking. Anyone elses the same way?
