inaccurate speedometer?

i was driving with my pal, me in my audi and him in his bmw.. we were chatting over the walkie talkies(we use em to harass riced out civics and stuff) and we had a difference of opinion in speed while pacing each other. my speedometer read 95 mph while his said 105. the cable for my speedometer looks like it has burn marks or something inside and generally seems in less than perfect condition. is there a chance that this is off? any advice?

Mine's about 2-3mph slow.

I'm going to try this next time I take the speedo out: If you carefully bend the needle over the peg so that it goes to its rest position, it should point to a little white hash mark on the edge of the face plate. I'm going to pop off the needle and move it a few degrees to see if it will compensate. It may also be due to the coil spring, too. You might check Audifans.com to see if there's any info there.

Both of my 4000CSQ's read 7mph optomistic. 1 has stock everything and the other has 5KTQ front Ground controll coil overs with 15" wheels all around and it too reads 7mph fast.
