I had the same conversation with the lady over the phone. She just does not know enough about the car. I live in washington so its not easy to just drop by, I would need more information from someone who actually knows about the car. The owner seems very unwilling to put any effort into the sale. Doesnt even spend the time to wash it before pictures... to bad its not closer I guess.

Default That is the $4900 car in CA that "just needs a wash and a fuel pump relay"

Right. A neglected, not running ur q is worth about $2k. If they want $4900, they should be willing to clean it up and put in a $15 relay. Unless it is proven to run, I would assume that it needs a lot more than a relay (how did they determine it needs that...). Even good quattros _always_ need about $2k worth of work IME when you first buy them. Seeing that you can't drive this one, I would figure on doubling that amount.

I believe that is the car referred to as "the mold car" by the local guys that know it, as the interior is covered in mold. I have heard of a few people being interested in it in the last couple of years, including a few guys that really know the cars, but it never sold.

I have not seen this car myself for over 10 years now. It is in the area I live (around 10 miles from me) and I didn't even bother looking at it when I bought my Ur-Q two years ago (from someone in WA state). The owner advertised a "garage sale" on Craigs List last weekend and I was curious what may happen with it. What I do know is that the car has been sitting neglected for a very long time. A fellow local Ur-Q owner did go look a few years back and walked away then. There's potential because the body/chassis appear to be straight and are likely pretty much rust free with reasonably low miles. The price needs to be low, like no more than $2k I would think.
