Is it bad to........
run my urq without the rear muffler and assorted piping? I took the rear section off to fix a hole in the bend above the rear axle and would like to drive it, but don't want to break anything. Any thoughts?

Well I've been driving my CGT with no mufflers for 2 weeks now
Just going through a MK4 golf cat and a resonator from an APR exhaust.
Atmittedly it's NA but the only thing that seems to have happened is my O2 sensor seemingly has gone bad.

Hot gasses may also
set the undercoating on fire (especially if you've got an aftermarket 'rust check' type oil on it).
USUALLY this is only an issue if you're running just the downpipe (exhaust gases are hotter the closer to the engine you are, obviously) but I know of at least one golf that burned at a track due to running with just a mid-pipe (no rear muffler).
It was likely due to it sitting and idling for an extended period of time...but it _could_ happen.
Personally, I wouldn't drive it unless I _had_ to drive it...but if I had to, I wouldn't worry too much and just do it.
