Default Recaro seats into a Quattro?

Anyone install aftermarket Recaros into a 4KQS? If so I could use your help. I got some real cheap at the junk yard and then looked at the 4Kqs seat rails and it looks like the seat and frame rails are one piece. I was hoping that the frame bolted to the seat so I could bolt the Recaros to the Audi seat frame. The Recaro seats bolt directly on a BMW seat rail. The side support on the Quattro seats is not up to my improved mods of turbo power and Bilsten suspension.

Default You need the brackets 85.20.17 left and 85.20.27 right. MSRP $135 each.

These are supposedly available from your friendly local Recaro dealer, and perhaps directly from Recaro online. Do a search on the the Recaro site for more info.

Default Where'd you get those part numbers?

The website? I've talked to 2 Recaro dealers and the folks at the main office in MI. None of them could confirm the part number for the urq.

Default Its on the Recaro North America website, althought it takes a bit of searching.

Personally, I find that it is easier to find on the German site. If you go to the recaroshop.de site (or found on the recaro.de site), select a seat, and then select only the adapter (Sitzkonsole) you will find:

Konsole (85.20.17)
Audi Coupé, Sport Quattro (bis 08/1988)
Konsole (85.20.27)
Audi Coupé, Sport Quattro (bis 08/1988)

BTW, I also confirmed the part number with Bob P., who has the Sport quattro seats from the factory in his '85 quattro.

Let me know where you find the best price. I need a passenger side Sitzkonsole for a set that I am getting shipped over.

HTH!

Steve

Default Here is the info from the Recaro NA site.

I did have to use IE to view it, as Mozilla has some issues with it. Here you go:

Details for bracket

Model
Year: Audi Coupé, Sport Quattro
till 8/88

Bracket-Part-No. left/right: 85.20.17/85.20.27
Hints concernig bracket:
original height adjuster to be removed before RECARO installation

Not available for cars originally equipped with electrical seat adjustment

Useable RECARO-seats: Remarks:
RECARO trend
RECARO sport
RECARO speed
RECARO Expert / Specialist
RECARO orthoped
RECARO Ergomed E/ ES D/ DS Seat can only be installed with "middle angle linkage"

MSRP $135.00

Attention, important information
For people with small stature it is recommended to use the spacer brackets.
Installations of RECARO adapter kits that involve seat belt pre-tensioner units or side airbags have to be performed by authorized RECARO dealers only.
To remove the OEM seat special tools may be necessary like e. g. a torx wrench.
If a vehicle had an obvious facelift and it is not mentioned on the adapter kit list please contact RECARO.

Call it a hunch, but I will bet that those seats aren't using the original mounting points...

Default Well, yes, I've seen that information.

But when I called to order the brackets nobody could verify the website info. Two different Recaro dealer told me they were not able to order them from Recaro. The main Recaro office couldn't find any info about brackets for my car.

I went directly to the manufacturer that supposedly makes the brackets for Recaro, in LA, and ordered them based on my car and what he sent me didn't fit the car or the seats.

BTW, Corbeau lists a bracket for their seats in our cars too. But just like Recaro, they couldn't verify the information or actually get the brackets ordered. These companies seem to list all this info on the website but it's all just vapor. What a crock!

Default I can verify that those part numbers from Recaro will fit a quattro.

At least the ones that they used to supply with those part numbers would. I would say what you got was not the 85.20.17 and 85.20.27. Is the above picture what you received? It should be. What seats do you have?

I found a used driver's side adapter in Germany, which is correct and fits, but I still need to find the passenger side. Sounds like it would be best for me to try to get one in Germany.
