N00B to older Audis... Some questions....

I like the look of the URQ, can someone give me some stats on this car? is it turbo? what engine? what problems are these having? and where can i find one???

also what other older audis are there that are quattro and turbo?

Im looking for an older audi to slowly fix up, but i want something that is reliable...

Older Audi = Reliable?

Many would say that's a contradiction of terms!

Reality says that unless you are a 'tinkerer' or a 'fixer' type of person (or are very rich and can afford to have others tinker for you!), you may want to think a bit about an "older Audi".

On the other hand, that's probably why many of us have them (Because we like the constant source of mysteries that they can create..!)

Yes, they are reliable.... What Frank refers to are cheap basket cases....

...that need constant attention because owners have taken a lot of shortcuts when fixing simple failures or been butchered by useless mechanics, or just been neglected.

If you find a nice well cared for example it should be as if not more reliable than any other daily transport. I used Ur-qs as daily drivers for years now and have never (knock on wood) had a failure that would keep me from getting to work on time.

yeah, they are prolly as reliable as any other euro car this old...just remember the Ur was a lot of

version 1.0 gear, so replacing parts if they go may be a little more to deal with...for example, two weeks after my purchase, my brakes went - like completely. so we swapped all of the power steering and brake components with 5000 parts...ended up being a couple grand. and i prolly put another 1000-2000 in it just getting other stuff sorted out. That being said, once i get the 20v in here, BBK up front, and a nice coil-over set up, this thing should be as reliable as my S4 was.
