Default Radiator Ramblings

Here's the deal. My stock main radiator started leaking, and the radiator shop says it is in too bad of shape to repair. The best price on a new one is $325 from Shokan (ouch). One other option would be to put in a performance radiator from Dyalynx or 034EFI, but I really don't want to loose the stock appearance of my engine compartment. That leads me to another option: If I were to install a stock CGT/4000 radiator ($170) and delete the aux radiator (which I could sell since it's in good shape), it would still look stock with all of the radiator baffles installed. However, even though I have removed the A/C and I live in a fairly cool climate, I am concerned that I might not get enough cooling without the aux unit. Is anyone out there running in this configuration? What do y'all think? Thanks,

I do not think this is good idea. In California you will run hot. Talk to your radiator shop and ask them how much they would charge to modify 4000 radiator. They need to just put one fitting for aux. radiator in upper tank or just switch upper tanks if they are made from metal. If is plastic one you may have problem.

Default I'm running that set up....you'll be fine.

I have a 4kq raditator, no auxilary radiator, with A/C. I live in Connecticut and drove my urq to and around Annapolis, MD using my A/c, sitting traffic on the NJTP in August with no overheating problems. My radiator cost me $175.

Well, I think I will stay on the safe side, especially since there is a long, steep hill climb going to my house. I really don't want to toast the new engine! There are two things that are always true: You can never have too much horsepower, and you can never have too much radiator action on an Urq! Thanks guys
