WX->MC1 (MAC 02 -> MAC 11) ECU change question?
(I even took apart the transducer. Not very exciting. Looks sort of like the tranducer in the MAC 11 ECU, only mounted in a separate box).
I'm thinking of swapping the MAC 02 ecu out, and installing the whole harness and ECU and 'bits' (Knock sensor, wastgate FV and so on) of the MAC 11 setup.
The urq already has the MC motor in (before I got the car), but i have no idea if the flywheel in the car is the right one for the car (WX flywheel), or one that came with the motor (MC flywheel). Is there any way to tell what one I may be running with, without pulling out the flywheel and comparing to a know good flywheel?
As far as I understand, there is only a difference of 2 degress in where on the flywheel the timing reference pin is mounted.
My question is:
Is this something that I really have to worry about when changing ECUs?
I'm thinking that unless I'm trying to get loads of power, and am running extra boost, it probably won't make much difference.
My rational is that the ECU can change the timing in the order of 30 degrees (Full boost to full vacuum at ~3500 rpm), so a difference of 2 degrees base timing would not be significant.
Aslo, there's the knock sensor as a fallback, and I plan on continuing to use premium fuel.
And who knows.. Perhaps the flywheel is really a MC one anyway, and I'm just putting things back to how they should be!
Let me know..
Regards,
