broken ball socket

don't ask me how i did it but i managed to break the ball socket on the top of my transmission now i cannot shift my car and it is stuck in reverse. how do i fix it?

A friend of mine had a spare busted tranny. I'll see him tomorrow night and see if I can have it and grab parts off it.

I have a spare. It's the short rod with the sockets on both ends. Let me know if you need it.

Which piece exactly?

I assumed it was the post part on the tranny. Is it that or the linkage?

I can get the post, but the linkage part is gone already.

I think he's talking about the white plastic ball cup on the shift linkage.

I don't have any extra linkage, but I do have a busted tranny for parts.
