Production Data
I am composing a feature on the 1982 Quattro for Hemmings Sports & Exotic Car, and I am in search of production totals for the Ur Quattro; the closest I can come is around 4,000 US sales, but I would like to be more specific. Perhaps someone could assist me?
Cheers,
David

The sales figures for the quattro are in the shown in the attached link. It was imported to the US from '82 to '86. Note that the sales figure show a particular car sold in that year, not necessarily the model year of the car. So, few actual '82s were sold in '82 as most were classified as '83s. Worldwide, there were just over 11,560 quattros produced from '80 to '90.
Also note that the later cars shown from '89 to '92 were a different car, called the Coupe Quattro , which was built on a newer chassis than the quattro.
Note that the car's name was the quattro (no Coupe, no capitalization).
For good info on existing car, I would contact Bill Bremer who maintains the quattro registry.

Audi production numbers.

And here's another, even less definitive (!) capital "Q" urQ:

This is the '90 quattro 20V (RR ur quattro) manual. Seems pretty clear to me.
Anyway, the jury is still out as far as I'm concerned. Grammatically, it should be capitalized, but in most of the factory service and marketing materials (the marketing material is what I would think carries more weight), the q is not capitalized, even when the font is changed.I would say they screwed up the English manual...
