993/996 calipers

993/996 calipers

Got to make a choice on calipers for the UrQ
993tt, 996C, or the 996tt. Anybody been in cars with more than just one setup?
I'm planning on using 993TT rotors, this is for a 83 UrQ with a fairly stock AAN, everntually will be full on RS2.

993 are two-piece and more durable, IIRC, vs. the monobloc 996's.

Good luck with the project, Jack. FWIW, the AP calipers fit under the 15" Ronals. They are pricey, but I can give you a number if you're interested. That's what I put on my car. They look great to boot. Although AP is owned by Brembo now, supposedly they've retained production autonomy and the quality has suffered very little. Better brakes in mine and many's opinions...about twice what you'd pay for a used 993 setup, or if you sourced it yourself, FWIW.

Really thought about going the AP route, the biggest was to be able to use the 15" Ronals. Wasn't too crazy about the rotor selections. But, there's numerous reasons for me to head in the Porsche direction; I've already got some of the parts to head towards the Porsche setup; 993tt Rotors, 993tt track pads, RS2 brackets and hats to use the 993tt calipers/rotors on my UrS6 as well. But was just looking for anybody that has compared the 993tt/996C/996tt systems.
