Default Looking at a Ur-Quattro, questions

Well, one main question. I currently have a 2000 S4 and really enjoy it, but have always wanted a Ur-Quattro and there is that nice one for sale on Ebay. The question I have is that I travel a lot of road miles for work and love the quiet and comfort of the S4 almost as much as it's performance. I know this is an 80's car, but how is it on long trips? (8 hours or less)

Thanks in advance. Great cars you guys have.

Default More "However....."

So true on carrying extra stuff in the urq...

When I changed back to 'stock' supension, looked pretty good. But after a while, the back end looked like it was sagging a bit. I was a bit worried... Until I realized what I was carrying in the trunk!

Some of the contents:
Small floor jack, one jack stand, full toolbox, jumper cables, fire extinguisher, torque wrench, mini air pump, tow strap, exra oil, a few belts, jumper battery pack, 12 flourescent light, piece of carpet (to lie on), some premix antifreeze, some rubber fuel line (and clamps), some small vacuum line and probably a few other things that I can't remember, or don't know about.

Then on long trips, I jam in a full sized spare, too...

So no wonder the back end sags a bit!

Good thing is, I never seem to need any of this stuff, but end up using it to help out others.

Default If you breakdown - don't expect the local audi dealer will have you back in action within 24 hours!!

They may not know what it is - or have someone qualified to fix the most common problems. Disclaimer - I may bid on that car myself - but it would be my 7th car - and I work just 6 miles from home (and I can take a bus to work).

Default Some dealerships really suck, dont they?

I guess I should be fortunate to have a good relationship with the head Audi tech here in town. Hes been an Audi tech for 30 years and LOVES the old cars! He loves working on them, you should see when he works on a newer one :P *grumble grumble*. I bet he would **** a brick if 3-4 Urq's showed up for oil changes . Hes definately a purist though.

Default I've driven my 85 on a few 800 mile round trips....

I, personally, don't usually carry any tools with me. Also, I find the car very comfortable on these trips. They seem to be effortless and fairly quiet at 80mph and higher.
