Default Sport quattro brake caliper parts questions.

I'm ordering parts to rebuild a set of Sport quattro brake calipers. I have the piston and dust seals on the way, but I'd like to also get the pad retainer springs, and maybe crossover tubes. The problem is, I haven't been able to find the AP caliper number that corresponds to these calipers. The calipers seem to be a standard AP caliper that was modified for Audi to clear the wheels. My calipers have stainless steel 41.4mm pistons with all four pistons being the same size. The crossover tubes seem to be insulated with asbestos and covered with thick heat shrink tube. The pad retainer plates bolt on vs. the cotter pin setup that I have seen on some of the race cars. The Audi part numbers are 859 615 105 and 106.

My calipers were in rough shape when I got them, with pad material cooked on to them and the seals were pretty toasty. I had to media blast them to get the junk off. BTW, the caliper bodies appear to have been hard anodized inside and out. The blasting didn't touch the finish on the aluminum.

So, have any of you guys with the AP calipers gotten parts other than just seals? I'd also like to know what the pad family is. I have one good set of Jurid pads for them, but I have no idea what compound they are.

Default Did you check AP website?? There is a section under caliper...

selection called historic.. all the info is in there.. you just have to know the piston size.
It gives you pad size and dimentions as well if you want to make a custom set.

http://www.apracing.com/car/caliper/dataselect.asp</a

Default Ah yes, got it. They are closest to the CP2270.

I had found that a couple of years ago (and printed it), but couldn't find my printout or the page. Thanks for the link.

The Sport quattro calipers are a modified version of that caliper. The pistons are stainless instead of aluminum, there are dust seals, the pad fastener holes are all helicoiled and fitted with metric hardware, and they were machined to fit under the wheel before being anodized. I am going to see if a local shop can strip and re-anodize my calipers as well. Then they will be as new.

Default Other than looking cruddy, mine probably worked just fine.

I was actually amazed at how well they cleaned up. Internally, they were beautiful. As long as you change fluid regularly, they should last forever.

BTW, do you know if you have dust seals and stainless pistons?

Default Nope

I don't put many miles on them. A few country drives down a little used back roads now and then.
