APR STAGE 1+ PROBLEMS LISTED HERE, anyone else?
-my check engine light keeps coming on, and TODAY, lost regular acceleration power.
-for a chip that is supposed to take AWAY the speed limiter, mine seems to kick in at 100. YES....ONE HUNDRED.
I am in FREAK mode because i am taking this car to the dealer maybe tomorrow and am worried as to what they are going to say is the blame, and HOW MUCH I WILL HAVE TO PAY to have it fixed.
I know the MIL Light comes on when there is no connection with the ECU and the Speed limiter function, and that it is normal after a chip upgrade, but then WHY IS IT LIMITING AT ONE FRIGGIN HUNDRED?
I am just waiting to see whats next.
I am a little irritated right now
I had a problem not long ago and freaked! Was 90 miles from home when the MIL came on. . . .and didn't have full power. Took it to the dealer . . . . most of a day later the dealer told me they didn't know what was causing the problem but I needed a new ECU and it wouldn't be under warranty. . .
WHOOOOOAAAAA. . . . tell me the error codes, I say.. . . much hemming and hawing by the dealer but nothing more than "O2 sensor" error and bank one lean. NOT necessarily major malfunction in my opinion. Need to know why? Could it maybe have something to do with 91 Craptane gas out here in California? Other contaminants?
Anyway, both APR and Hartmann, the installer, were very helpful. Informative, professional, and they responded! Unlike the dealer who had my car since opening. . . . .
To make matters worse, when I went to pick my car up at the dealer - situation not resolved by them - I see a technician in their driveway plugging in his diagnostic tool, and BAM, in a moment he's telling the owner here's the code, here's the reason. . . . . now, why would that have been so hard in my case?
Answer? It WASN'T so hard. Made the trek down to Hartmann and issue resolved almost immediately! Much appreciated!
So I say give your installer a chance. If you don't get what you need, give APR a chance. My experience was positive and I can't praise them enough.
(and going forward, be careful in choosing your dealer!)
Cleaned up and I dunno, but I was sure my butt dyno felt more power and definitely smoother throttle response.
Not enough air in could be part of the problem. But, then, I am not a technician so I make no guarantee with this one. . . .
Thank you for your much appreciated reponse! It is nice to know someone out there can describe the same thing, and is happy today. What will they be able to do, do you think. COuld it really be the gas making it so bad the MIL light comes on?
Loos like you have nearly the same car and mods as me, except i am black and tiptronic.
