installed my GFB hybrid DV -BOV last night/ first impressions (very long)
It took me little while to locate the stock DV, it wasn't were i thought it would be. Then I realized i have to remove the plastic floor pan underneth the car. Its hard to get to the stock DV. My metal cutters wouldn't fit. I managed to get my dremal up there to cut the two hose clamps. New ones were supplied with the hybrid. Unfortunatly I broke of the vaccum line nipple on my stock DV when trying to snip the hose clamp.
Total install time in the street with the stock jack till it was drivable again was 1hr 15 min. Initial anticipation was 30 mins.
Car started right up, sounded normal.
First drive with the windows down, radio and heat off. I was supprised since this is supposed to be one of the louder ones. Per ND i set this to the softest setting. I can hear it but its just a little 'pisst'. On a main street using manual CVT @ 40 , i couldn't hear it inbetween shifts, they happened to fast. driving around town doing 20, i deffenitly hear it, but i slowly pulled in to a Shell for gas and two people getting gas, neither looked up or responded to my cars "pisst". So i can't be that loud. You can hear it in the cabin with windows up , but its really not loud.
Drive to work today and out of a toll way , i floored it, let off at 80, with the windows up, i could not hear it.
Off the line nothing major. The turbo lag was reduced, and the car was more willing to roll the tires, but since i didn't just do a launch from dead stop at this same stop sign with same conditions prior to install, i can only base this on how the car used to respond.
Driving and then flooring it, i can surely tell that lag is reduced. It responds faster.
I like it , it sounds cool, it functions as described. Should be louder when i chip the car and have high boost running though it. I will tweak the setting and see what that does for the sound.
Anyway, I keep seeing DV and BPV all around. Iknow that BPV = Bypass Valve. What's DV. Are they 2 different things or are they the same thing?
