A4 Decision (1.8 or 3.0)
I placed a post in here a couple days back about whether I should get a manual Quattro 3.0 or 1.8 with a chip. Just wanted to thank you all for the advice. Test drove both (stock), and I've decided to go ahead and get the 3.0 six-speed. I'm selling my '02 BMW 330ci (yes, I took the $$ loss to go from a 3 Series to A4), but I still need v6 power. Great job with this forum, you guys know you stuff. Warranty advice, chip advice was all solid. Can't wait to get into my new car!

I, too, had a hard time deciding between 1.8T and 3.0. I went with a 3.0 and dont regret it one moment. Great car. What are the specs on your new A4?
Also, what made you unhappy about the 330?

Why I am selling my 330ci at a loss to get the new A4:
1) The BMW is pretty, but the A4 IMO is a much nicer looking car. I love the clean lines.
2) Fit and Finish on the A4 is much better. When the door shuts on the A4, you can just tell this is a nicely crafted car. I have rattles all over the place on my 330ci.
3) Quattro AWD: I go skiing a lot, and had to take a beat up ride up to Tahoe this winter, since my RWD 330ci can't hang in the snow. If you're spending that much on a car, why should you be limited in where you go?
4) EVERYONE IN THE WORLD HAS A BMW 3-SERIES. I live in Santa Monica, and these cars are a dime a dozen.
5) I might be one of the few people to think this, but I like the shifting on the A4 more than the 3-series.
Bottom line, image isn't everything. The car is. I may be losing $10K, but I'm glad I am finally getting a good car for me.

good to see you got the 3.0
I was soo close to ordering a bmw 330i with the new 6 speed. It is nice to hear that you are going from a 2002 330 to a 3.0 A4, makes me not 2nd guess myself to death. The bmw did drive sweet in the dry. Overall the value just wasn't there for the extra cash they wanted though.

I drove both (new 1.8 and 3.0)...I just liked the turbocharged feel...plus I knew I was going to mod
so the 1.8 seemed logical....
tuning=1.8
stock=3.0
Don't get me wrong, I love the 3.0 but turbos are much more fun in my opinion.
