Default My audi roadside experience

I got a flat and pull over onto the side of the road. Took the bolts off and the wheel wouldn't come off. I tried for a few mins and had no luck. I call roadside, they show up in about 20 mins and he had the same problem as me. He started hitting the wheel with his large steel socket removing tool and a piece of wood between the wheel and his "hammer". That didn't work, so now the guy starts kicking it for a couple mins. That doesnt work. Then finally we had to pry the wheel off using that tool. Hard to explain how it was done. But now this is got me wondering if all my wheels are going to be that hard to take off. Side note... i live in Toronto and they throw a lot of salt on the roads because of the snow/ice.

Rotated tires myself this past weekend. All came off easily. I still applied antiseize.

Default Same thing.

I had the same problem. There was a guy from the dealership there. He said it happens frequently the first time you try to remove the wheels. His solution was to repeatedly kick the tire at an angle until it broke free. It took a few minutes and some good hard kicks.

unscrew the bolts 1 turn & drive a few feet then tap the brakes. it solved the problem for me.

Take them all off now and grease the back contact surface.

Default If you have a flat tire loosen the bolts a few turns, with the tires on the gound(not jacked up)...

shake the car hard side ways from the front or rear fender. Loosens the wheels very easily. I prefer the loosen the bolts, drive a few feet, hit the brakes method. This is standard practice for all old VW owners who have learned that this method will loosen seized brake rotors on rusted hubs. Coat the hub lightly where the wheel attaches with Permatex anti-seize from Pep Boys, Autozone, etc and the wheels will fall off in your hands for many years to come.

I also can't figure out why Audi doesn't apply the anti-seize compound at the factory....

Default Torque them as per the manual - 90 lb/ft.

Just took my winters off with no problems at all. Now I torqued them as per the manual. I did help my friend out last year to put his summers on and not having a torque wrench the summers never came off when it was time for the winters. According to the torque wrench I had then, all of his tires were torqued at over 140 lb/ft!! No wonder they never came off.
