Question for Audi Racers: Jet, Tsle, Spinnetti, Neo and others...
I was testing the AP Racing brakes today (much more on that later) and while applying full braking force from 100-110mph down to 15mph I noticed a sound of road debris, little chunks of rubber, or brake pad rotor chunklets, hitting against the wheel wells. It is the same sound I am familar with when making hi-speed 90 degree turns and you hear the track debris (chunks of rubber) hitting all up in your wheel wells. I immediately thought it was my rubbing issue, but the car was braking in a straight line. So I pit the car and inspect the tires and find no evidence of rubbing on the inside or out. The track barely had any debris on it since we were just using it for an hour and there were only a couple people. The only thing I can think of was that it was little chunks of brake pad? The carbotechs are ceramic and never broke down under heavy braking, but the current pads on the car are basically stock pads. When I looked at the grooves on the rotors, they were packed with pad material. Otherwise the pads look fine and there is not detriment to braking. What do you guys think? Thanks...cheers! Mike
