Try not to flame me too much...searching leaves more questions than answers...

Lets assume the following:
1. I have no desire to store an extra set of wheels/tires and;
2. I have no room to store the same.

What are some recommendations as to a good happy medium, year round tire that will provide good summer performance as well as traction in the mountains for the winter. I know I may be asking too much of a tire, but there must be something out there that is usable year round and performs at lease decently in both seasons.

I have the RS4 18" contisport 2 tires, and am looking to use the same wheels....so 235/40r18 is the tire size.

Any/all recommendations welcome!

my buddy has a B5 and has had all seasons for the past 5 years. He likes to go boarding and has taken his car up there (SF to Tahoe) more than a dozen times--just forgot what shoes he has on though, but definatly All Seasons

honestly, I really like the P6s that come on the 17" sport package

however, you're not going to get any really quality winter performance on an 18" rim...there isn't enough sidewall.

I Had The Same "Problem"....

After long and careful thought, I chose Kumho Ecsta AS/X (these are all seasons)...I had Pirelli P6s OEM. I then went to Toyo FZ4s (Crap); Michelin Pilot Sports (excellent, but not for year-round use)...I settled on the Kumhos and love them. I bought them from Tire Rack - they're a great balance. Good Luck!

btw: I have 17" RS4s
