Default DualSystem Chipping

Just read about a new way to upgrade the software in a 1.8T engine in Audi Driver magazine. A company in the UK called DMS Automotive offers a black box that will allow the owner to completely download and save the factory software and then upload the tuned software. The process is then completely reversible by the owner. Sounds like you can get back to stock at anytime including any upgrades the dealer might add during servicing. Anyone know about this and if it is available in the US?

Default Yes, it is available in the US. I almost got that additional software with my chip this weekend,

but decided to hold off. It isn't that expensive, but didn't think I would use it. If I do, I'll just go get it. No biggie.

Are we talking about the same thing? The system I am talking about would not need a physical chip but would be software and a black box using the OBD port. If so who is selling it here?

Default Correct, she got the flash load program from GIAC.

It comes in sets of 1, 3 and 5 different files. Chip, stock, race, valet and kill are the choices.

Default I think this is still different from GIAC.

My understanding is that GIAC and everyone else adds their code to the chip along with the factory code and also provides the ability to switch among installed programs. The DualSystem completely removes the factory code and saves it to a black box and replaces it with their code. So when you switch back to the factory code the tuner code is also completely removed. This means it can't be detected since it is not there. It also can't be erased during servicing and you never have any problems with updating of the factory code. Plus you can always get back to the latest factory code and not the tuners simulation of the factory setting when they developed it. I may not be explaining it clearly but I thought these all sounded like improvements compared to existing options.

Default I read about this before. It is totally different from giac.

No need to visit a tuner. The stock image is saved to the 'box' and the preformance image is flashed to the ecu. you can revert back to the true original code.

Subaru has been doing this for years.
