Depends on your priorities.
I went from an A4 to a TL Type S.
I have no regrets. I put in Comptech sways, Tokico adjustible shocks and H&R springs and the Type S corners like it is on rails.
You can make the TSX handle as well as an A4 or even better but keep in mind one thing. You will sacrifice more ride quality doing this in a FWD car because you really have to stiffen it up.
I personally don't mind this and I DO miss AWD in the winter.
Have you considered a 1 year old TL? Really much more of a beast and considering how much an A6 is, a real bargain at the price point.
If you don't care for the luxury NAME then even an Accord V6 would be a better choice I think.
Tough call. The TSX is a great car relative to a 170hp unchipped A4 but a 170hp A4 is really a joke by 2005 standards :-)
