Buying a used GIAC chip
has anyone bought a used chip? I have an opportunity to buy a GIAC chip for cheap. This is coming off of a car in the same model year (2002), same transmission (5 speed manual), same drivetrain (quattro). I'm handy with a soldering iron, assuming the install goes well, what kind of issues, if any, should I expect?
Read the FAQ on GIAC's site, and it says that as long as I go to the place where the chip was orginally purchased, I can get updates for a fee. So I guess it's okay to buy a chip used, right?

Unless you solder on circuit boards, i dont suggest you attempt to solder the chip in yourself. if interested, i have a spare ecu out of my '02 1.8tqm with a socketed GIAC chip and stock chip i am looking to sell.
