DVD recorders...good? bad? experiences? Discuss.............

thinking picking one up. Tired of ripping my digital video footage to the PC first...and need a digital recptical for the HD programming I want to save from the DVR....

DVD recorders are for amateurs. All you need is what's called a DV Deck...

Don't worry they're only about $2,000. I'll rent you mine for $2,000/day.

We do this as part of work..

We use the Panasonic DMR ES 15 $170.00 @ BB.
Hook up your camera via Analoge cables or DV cable.

Straight dub or start and stop as you wish with automatic menu creation.

It also works as a DVD recorder from Cable or Broadcast TV via its internal VCR+ system.

That's what i am looking for...

Samsung makes one that is 1080i, progressive scan..HDMI output yadda yadda...

With internal HD to buffer a recrding if the dvd doesn't have the capacity for it.. Not sure if that is important to me as I really want to take shows like the F1 season and record from my DVR..or family video tapes thart rarely exceed an hour and archive them to DVD prior to editing as I do now on my PC. But it's labor intense and the dropped frame rate is huge...
