just buy it @ home depot (try to find a coupon somewhere) and have my dad & I install it
how big of a space are we talking about?
we are NOT pros, but he & I did my apartment as well as my office and we get lots of compliments on it.

I had my great room done a few years ago...
They did some incredible free-form work around the stone in my fireplace...
Not sure if they go to SI but it would worth a call.. Can get the number if you want.

Mohawk sells a snap together flooring that is actual wood for the top layer...
It can be resurfaced and wears like real wood..... We did it most of the house and it cost about 20% more but we are 5 years in and it still looks great. The Pergo I had in my old place was trashed after year 2 between the kids and the dog.
